Regenic revs up with motorcycle deal
A St Helens business is helping to revive one of the most famous names in British motoring.
Sales and marketing consultancy Regenic, headed by Managing Director Steven Fairhurst, is getting Norton Villiers motorcycles back on the road in the UK.
The Norton name, along with Triumph, symbolises the glory days of British motorcycling manufacturing. Associated Motor Cycles(AMC) bought the then independent Norton in 1952 and later took over the name of Villiers, a famous engine manufacturer. By the early 1970s, however, British motorcycle manufacturing was struggling and Norton Villiers merged with Triumph but by 1976 the company had gone into receivership and Norton Villiers was bought by BMW.
The next chapter began in 1990 when North West businessman Clive Thompson bought Norton Villiers outright in order to supply parts to Villiers engines throughout the UK
Five years ago Norton Villiers motorcycle production began again in China with a range of bikes from 50cc to 300cc.
Steven Fairhurst says: “The business is now establishing a network of dealer re-sellers and is selling to the general public from its HQ in Manchester. My role is to assist with setting up the dealer networks and the brokering of retail deals. There is already a demand and we are in negotiation to supply to major retail organisations.”
Regenic was established by Steven with business support and advice from St Helens Chamber and has attracted a number of high profile clients across a range of industries.
“The branding position for Norton Villiers is absolutely excellent. This is a long-term commmitment for Regenic and the companies will work closely together to bring back a rarity in the industry and that is a British name.”
